each on shaped octagonal base with baluster knopped stem, engraved on foot with crest above initials HAP and underneath with initials W/MM, fully marked
The arms are possibly those of Thomas Henry Allen Poynder (1814-1873), of Hartham Park, Wiltshire.

Hartham Park was purchased in the 1850s from the Methuens by Thomas Henry Allen Poynder. The estate then passed by inheritance to his son, William Henry Poynder and upon his death to his nephew, John Dickson Poynder.
In 1884, John succeeded his uncle, Sir Alexander Collingwood Thomas Dickson, as the sixth baronet and upon inheriting his maternal uncle’s estate, he assumed the additional surname of Poynder by royal license in 1888.
Under the ownership, Hartham Park became a focal point for political, social, and recreational life in North Wiltshire. Sir John was elected MP for Chippenham in 1892 and served as a Member of the London County Council from 1898 to 1904. He also took part in the Second Boer War as aide-de-camp to Field Marshal Lord Methuen, Commander-in-Chief, earning a Distinguished Service Order (DSO) in 1900.
Records indicate that Winston Churchill stayed at Hartham Park over Christmas in 1896, during the summer of 1897, and again in 1899. The two men remained in correspondence for much of their lives.
He made some significant remodeling to the house which became a venue for many distinguished gatherings.The grounds were landscaped by Harold Peto, who designed an exquisite Dutch water garden. Sadly, much of this was lost due to redevelopment in the 1960s.
In 1910, Sir John was appointed Governor of New Zealand and was later elevated to the peerage as Lord Islington. After two years, he returned to Britain to serve as Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies, followed by Under-Secretary of State for India.
Following his death in 1936, the Hartham Park estate was purchased by the Nicholson family, renowned for their gin empire.
