1983. Oil/canvas. 50 x 65 cm. Lo. ri. sign. and dat. Paul Colin Berlin 1983, on the reverse titled. - French artist. C. studied painting at the collége in Nancy and had already taken part in many exhibitions in Europe and the USA before he also began exhibiting at the Salon d'automne in Paris. The versatile artist created landscapes, portraits and still lifes, but was also active as a stage and poster artist, including for Josephine Baker. A retrospective was dedicated to him at the Louvre in 1949 and he exhibited at the Documenta in 1964. C. was a member of the Legion of Honor. Lit.: Vollmer, Bénézit.
