Neben seinen Genreporträts wurde Padua auch im Laufe der 1920er Jahre immer mehr als Porträtmaler geschätzt. Der Wittelsbacher Ludwig Ferdinand ist mit einer der ersten gewesen, der sich vom gebürtigen Niederbayern malen ließ. Dessen erstes Porträt stammt aus dem Jahr 1926 und zeigt nur den Kopf des Adligen (vergleiche Probst, Volker, Padua. Neuss 1988, S. 40, Kat.-Nr. 5). Hier führt er ihn in Lebensgröße in historischem Kostüm mit markanter Halskrause aus. Veredelt wird das, ganz in Tradition der Renaissancen Porträts, mit dem bayrischen Wappen im rechten oberen Eck.
Ludwig Ferdinand von Bayern ist Sohn von Adalbert von Bayern und seiner Frau Amalia del Pilar de Borbon, Infantin von Spanien und damit Neffe von Maximilian II., König von Bayern. Durch seine Mutter ist er nicht in München, sondern in Madrid geboren und aufgewachsen und war daher auch Infant von Spanien und war General im Stab der spanischen Armee. Sein Studium absolvierte er jedoch in Heidelberg. Seit 1878 lebte er schließlich in München im nach ihm benannten Palais. In der Zeit stand er auch seinem Cousin Ludwig II. nahe, war einer der wenigen gern gesehenen Gäste des Märchenkönigs. Privat war er auch sehr kulturell interessiert und schrieb unter anderem eigene Gedichte und Lieder. Gestorben ist er im Alter von 90 Jahren in München.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
