Important et célèbre recueil de gravures de Pérelle. Bel exemplaire, plus riche qu’à l’accoutumée, provenant des bibliothèques Rattier et Héron de Villefosse. L'essentiel de l'œuvre gravé de Gabriel Pérelle est consacré à Paris et sa région, avec un goût tout particulier pour les demeures princières. Aidé de son fils Adam, il a réalisé plusieurs centaines de gravures au pittoresque et à la densité caractéristiques.
Outre de nombreuses vues de monuments de Paris, du château de Versailles et de ses jardins ainsi que d’autres demeures princières, parmi lesquelles Chantilly, Fontainebleau, Saint-Germain en Laye et Vaux-le-Vicomte, le présent exemplaires comprend également trente vues de Rome, incluant Saint-Pierre, le Capitole, le Colisée et la fontaine de Tivoli.
Il provient de la bibliothèque de Léon Rattier, sous-préfet de la Somme et important collectionneur, qui possédait le château de Jeand’heurs (Meuse). Edmond de Goncourt, qui séjournait régulièrement au château, ne tarissait pas d’éloges sur « un parc qui rappelle en grand le Petit Trianon, et dans lequel coule une vraie rivière, une cour d’honneur digne d’un Marly, des amas de curiosités, parmi lesquelles il y a une collection de livres et de reliures qui vaut plus d’un million » (Journal. Paris : Charpentier, 1891, V, p. 337). L’exemplaire passa ensuite dans la collection de René Héron de Villefosse, chartiste et conservateur de musées spécialisé dans l’histoire de Paris et de sa région. In-4 oblong (285 x 370 mm). Recueil composite, comprenant, au total 6 pages de titre, 2 planches dépliantes et 423 planches, de divers formats, la plupart à pleine page. Reliure signée de Allô en maroquin grenat, tranches dorées (rares rousseurs, quelques frottements à la reliure). Provenance : ex-libris de Léon Rattier (1824-1902), sa vente, première partie, Paris, juin 1920 (n°265) – ex-libris de René Héron de Villefosse (1903-1985).
Extensive copy of this famous album of engraved plates, mostly depicting views of Paris landmarks, Versailles and its gardens and other important princely domains, also containing thirty plates of Rome.

First of all, you should register to be able to purchase at auction. After confirming your email address, enter your personal information in your user profile, such as your first name, last name, and mail address. Choose a lot from the upcoming auction and the maximum amount you want to place on it. After confirmation of your choice, we will send your application by e-mail to the appropriate auction house. The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
