Vintage gelatin silver photograph of Chet Baker on stage during his tour of Germany, 1956, signed and inscribed by Chet Baker. Inscribed in green ink ‘A nice shot, Thanks Roy, Chet Baker -56-’.
‘This long tour found Baker performing for the first time in a wide range of European locales, many of which would become familiar haunts in later years, including Amsterdam, Geneva, Copenhagen, Paris, London, Stuttgart, Cologne, Berlin, Baden-Baden, Milan, San Remo, and Rome. For much of the rest of Baker’s life, Europe would serve as a home away from home, more of a home than he ever had on the West Coast and certainly more than his native Oklahoma could offer’. Goioa, 184.
The image by Roy Dimbleby, neatly mounted by the photographer over the album sleeve for Chet Baker with Strings, 305 x 305 mm.
