Lot 1817 | PICASSO, PABL0 (NACH) "Drei Farblithographien"
TCM, project: Galerie Burkhard Eikelmann in Düsseldorf, lithographs on handmade paper, "Téte de Femme" 1958, ex. 0651/1000, "Femme accoudée á sa fenétre" 1936, ex. 0039/1000, "Téte de Femme" 1938, ex. 0425/1000, HxW: (with frame) 90X68 cm.
The Burkhard Eikelmann Gallery in Düsseldorf discovered these lithographs and sold them to Tchibo in 2007. They were produced in Picasso's former printing workshops in Paris, kept untouched for 25 years in a wholesaler's warehouse in New York, and finally found their way to Germany. The lithographer and printer was Marcel Salinas, who worked exclusively for Pablo Picasso and printed these lithographs from the stone - posthumously after Picasso's death (1973). As the internationally active gallery owner Burkhard Eikelmann confirms, these are motifs of real oil paintings by Picasso, which were commissioned from Marcel Salinas by his granddaughter. The prints were created between 1979 and 1982. The original paintings were created between 1936 and 1958. At the beginning of 1980, Marina Picasso sold the rights to part of her Picasso inheritance to the art investment company Jackie Fine Arts, thus authorising this company to resell copyrights for individual works to investors. This gave the purchaser of the rights the opportunity to print and distribute limited editions of high-quality lithographs and to label them with the words "Collection Marina Picasso".
