engraving, 1559, on laid paper, watermark Gothic P surmounted by a Trefoil (this variant not in Briquet or Heawood), a fine impression of this rare print, first state (of two), published by Hieronymus Cock, Antwerp, printing sharply and with great contrasts, with many wiping marks and a subtle plate tone, with margins on three sides, the lower margin made up, a short repaired tear and a split in the margins, otherwise in good condition
