Rechteckige Bildplatte mit mythologischer Darstellung der Entführung von Hilaeira und Phoibe, den Töchtern des Königs Leukippos von Argos durch die Dioskuren Castor und Pollux. Der sterbliche Castor, der Rossbändiger, sitzt auf einem Pferd, eine der Leukippiden von seinem unsterblichen Bruder Pollux in Empfang nehmend. Nach dem 1618 entstandenen Gemälde von Peter Paul Rubens, heute in der Alten Pinakothek in München. Feine, polychrome Malerei. Rücks. altes, geprägtes Händleretikett "Giuseppe Melli/Florence". Press-Nr. 237-158. Eingepresste Zepter- und KPM-Marke. Aufwendig gestalteter, durchbrochen gearbeiteter und vergoldeter Stuckrahmen mit Blattrocailledekor (minim. best.). Platte 24 cm x 16 cm. Rahmen 38 cm x 30 cm.
A porcelain placque finely painted with a depiction of the "Robbery of the daughters of Leucippus" by the Dioscuri Castor and Pollux abducting Theocritus and Hyginus after P. P. Rubens. Verso old retailer's paper label "Giuseppe Melli/Florence". Impressed sceptre and KPM mark. Minor dents to the frame.
