Das Modell dieses Bureau Plat findet sein berühmtes Vorbild in dem einzigartigen Schreibtisch aus der Werkstatt von Charles Cressent (1685-1768, maître sculpteur 1719), der am 28. Juni 1919 in der Galerie des Glaces des Schlosses von Versailles aufgebracht wurde, um darauf den Friedensvertrag von Versailles zu unterzeichnen. Auf der Pariser Friedenskonferenz im Jahre 1919 wurde der Vertrag zur völkerrechtlichen Beendigung des Ersten Weltkriegs von den Mächten der Triple Entente und ihren Verbündeten ausgehandelt. Der unumstrittene Meisterebenist Cressent, der mit dem Rang eines Boulle, Riesener oder Gouthière gleichzusetzen ist, prägte den Stil der Régence maßgeblich und produzierte in Paris vor allem Kommoden, Sekretäre und Bureau Plat. Seine herausragende Stellung erlangte er durch seine Bronzen, die er nicht immer konform mit den Zunftregularien in seiner eigenen Werkstatt produzierte. Die stilistische Freiheit führte zu den berühmten Verzierungen in geschwungenen und vergoldeten Bronzen, in Form von Ranken, von Rocaille, der Frauenbüsten, Krieger und Masken. In eben diesem dezidierten Einsatz der Goldbronzen legte er einen Grundstein für den Rokokostil des 18. Jahrhunderts unter König Ludwig XV. Die asymmetrische Komposition seiner Bronzen sprechen eine dynamische Formensprache, die aus dem Zeitalter des europäischen Barock hinausführte. Die Qualität seiner Arbeit sicherte ihm erlesene Kundschaft und eine Reputation, die wohl noch im Jahr 1919 Entscheidungen beeinflusste. Seine Modelle und der einprägsame Stil wurden schließlich weitreichend rezipiert und etwa von Francois Linke (1855-1946) aufgegriffen. Cressent Werke stehen heute in bedeutenden Museen und gehören zu den erlauchtesten Stücken bedeutender Sammlungen, etwa im J.P. Getty Museum, in der National Gallery in Washington, in der Huntington Collection, im Schloss von Versailles oder in der Wallace Collection. Eine spezielle Ausstellung "Art de la Paix. Secrets et trésors de la diplomatie" im Petit Palais in Paris zeigte kürzlich ebenfalls dieses berühmte bureau plat.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
