Weltkrieges verdient machte beim Bau des Kreuzers "Blücher" sowie des Schlachtschiffes "Kaiser". Ab 1915 bis März 1919 war er beim Kommando der Mittelmeerdivision in Konstantinopel und war für die Beseitigung der Minenschäden des Kreuzers "Goeben" sowie für die Instandhaltung der Schiffe der Mittelmeerdivision - sowohl der deutschen wie auch türkischen Kriegsmarine zuständig.
