Estimate value

Autograph letter signed ('G.P.') to [Rose Ader] ('Adorata mia'), Via Verdi 4, Milan, 20 April 1921.
In Italian. Two pages, 264 x 210mm. Envelope addressed to Rose in Hamburg.
A love letter to the Austrian soprano Rose Ader. 'I have constantly followed you in my thoughts ... I am in too much pain – because I would wish to see you always – every day, every hour ... I am so on edge (and also not in good health) that if I sit down at my writing table I can do nothing ... thus I pass my sad days in melancholy and in thoughts of the few moments we spent together ... my sighs are the leitmotifs of the whole day! Oh my sweet Rosa how I love you!'. A postscript notes that there is no news from their mutual friend Count Schnabl, and sends greetings to Puccini's close friend and confidante Sybil Seligman.
Rose Ader (1890-1955) was an Austrian soprano, based primarily in Hamburg, where she sang at the first German performance of Suor Angelica in February 1921. She and Puccini began an affair shortly before the date of the present letter, and Puccini wrote her a series of passionate letters over the following year.
