A BRONZE FIGURE OF SAMANTABHADRA - China, inscribed 'Zhengde san nian' (the third year of Zhengde period [1508]), late Ming dynasty - Seated with legs crossed on a lotus base rising from the back of the caparisoned elephant reclining on a lotus base, his hands holding a lotus flower supporting a manuscript, wearing various garments including an underskirt and a wide-sleeved mantle, bejewelled, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, elongated earlobes with ear ornaments, his hairdo combed in a chignon and secured with a tiara decorated with a pair of floating ribbons. - From the collection of merchant Alfred Julius Forkel (1873-1934), assembled in China prior to 1910 - Minor wear, slightly chipped

Mit gekreuzten Beinen auf einem Lotos sitzend, der sich vom Rücken des auf einem Lotus liegenden Elefanten mit Kopfbedeckung erhebt, in den Händen eine Lotusblüte haltend, die ein Manuskript trägt, mit verschiedenen Gewändern bekleidet, darunter ein Unterrock und ein weitärmeliger Mantel, mit Juwelen geschmückt, sein Gesicht zeigt einen heiteren Ausdruck mit niedergeschlagenen Augen unter gewölbten Augenbrauen, verlängerten Ohrläppchen mit Ohrschmuck, seine Frisur zu einem Dutt gekämmt und mit einem Diadem gesichert, das mit einem Paar schwebender Bänder verziert ist.

Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
