PJOTR ALEXANDROWITSCH SUCHODOLSKIJ 1835 Kaluga-Region - 1903 St. Petersburg RUSSISCHES DORF Öl auf Leinwand, am Rand doubliert. 71 cm x 107,5 cm (R. 76,5 cm x 113 cm). Rahmen. Rückseitig in Kyrillisch signiert 'Suchodolskij', datiert '1865'. Min. restauriert Der 1835 geborene Künstler stammte aus einer adeligen Familie und begann sein Studium Ende der 1850er Jahre an der Kunstakademie in St. Petersburg. Später bekam er ein Stipendium und wurde zum Mitglied berufen. In den 1880er Jahren entstand eine Gemäldereihe, die die Ereignisse des Russisch-Türkischen Krieges darstellt. Suchodolskijs Werk zeichnet sich aber auch durch die Landschafts- und Genremalerei aus. Die Aufhebung der Leibeigenschaft durch den Zaren Alexander II. im Jahre 1861 war ein wichtiger Schritt in der Entwicklung Russlands. Diese Veränderungen spiegeln sich auch in der Malerei wider, die sich von der Romantik und der Idylle des Dorflebens distanziert. In dem vorliegenden Gemälde wird ein russisches Dorf mit seinen einfachen Lebensverhältnissen exemplarisch festgehalten. Ein vergleichbares Werk des Künstlers mit dem Titel 'Mittag im Dorfe' befindet sich im Russischen Museum in St. Petersburg. Literatur: Vgl.
