Kräftiger eiserner Bogen mit dunkler Alterspatina, geflochtene Sehne aus Hanf. Einbund mit eiserner Hängeöse. Gebauchte Säule aus Obstholz, die Bahn ebenso wie die Unterseite komplett mit Bein belegt. Im Faden laufende Nuss, mehrachsiges Schloss mit Stecher. Gegrateter eiserner Abzugsbügel. Reicher Dekor aus graviertem und schwarz eingefärbtem Bein. Auf der Säule seitlich ein betender Landsknecht unter dem Kreuz, auf der Gegenseite Darstellung Johannes des Täufers. Der übrige Schaft mit Dekor auf Blattranken, dazwischen Putti, Tiere und Fabelwesen. Auf der vollverbeinten Unterseite die Darstellung einer Frau in zeitgenössischer Tracht. Auf der Unterseite schwer lesbare Datierung "1560" (?). Verbeinung stellenweise restauriert, kleine Ergänzungen. Länge 75 cm.

A South German Renaissance crossbow lavishly inlaid with bone, circa 1560
The heavy, iron prod with a dark age patina and braided hemp bowstring. Cord anchors with an iron suspension loop. The bellied tiller made of fruitwood, the bolt channel and underside completely veneered with bone inlays. The nut secured with cord. Triple-axle lock with trigger. Ridged iron trigger guard. Lavish embellishment of engraved and blackened bone. A lansquenet at prayer below a crucifix on one side of the tiller, a depiction of John the Baptist on the other. The rest of the shaft adorned with leafy vines, interspersed with putti, animals and mythical creatures. A representation of a woman in contemporary dress on the entirely bone-inlaid underside. The barely legible year "1560" (?) underneath. The bone veneer restored in places, minor replacements. Length 75 cm.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
