Early 20th cent. Bronze, dark patinated. Figure: H. 34 cm, black marble base (min. chipped): H. 11 cm. Sign. Felderhoff, foundry mark H. NOACK FRIEDENAU. Personification of vanity in the form of a female nude looking at herself in a mirror, with a peacock to the side. - Noack's version was modelled on the large sculpture executed in 1895 for the cloakroom of the Reichstag building - German sculptor and medallist of the Berlin School of Sculpture, studied at the Berlin Academy of Art under Fritz Schaper and others, master student of Reinhold Begas from 1884, had his own studio from 1887, member of the Berlin Secession and the Prussian Academy of Arts
