A Polish horseman's hammer (raven's beak), 1st half of the 17th century
The head with a long, slightly curved quadrangular beak. A conical, rectangular hammer head with chiselled ornamental bands on the opposite side. Circular hardwood haft with two inset iron side straps and decorative brass rivets. Serrated iron sleeve, the round pommel cap with a lanyard loop. The surfaces lightly pitted, the haft with age cracks and worm damage in places. Length 75 cm.
