Date: Ca. 1600.
Technique: Brass and copper, fire-gilded, iron, ebonised wood.
Description: On a square base with flared sides, the tall rectangular body with finely moulded columns
in relief on the corners. The upper cover plate with matching rim, vases mounted on each
corner. The bell on top crowned with a figure of Justitia. Finely engraved ornamental
decoration and figurative depictions on all sides. The Nativity on the front, the
Annunciation on the back and the Crucifixion of Christ and Mary Immaculate on the sides.
The front plate with applied ring dial with Roman hours and Arabic minute track. Small
studs above the hours for night reading. Central alarm disc, iron hands. Control dial on
the back for the hour striking mechanism and slightly later, fixed pendulum. The side
panels are removable and reveal the iron wheel train with two engraved barrels and verge
escapement. Hour and alarm strike via two hammers on an overhead bell.
Measurement: Height incl. plinth 25cm. Clock 21x11x10,5cm.
Mark: Engraved monogram HK (lig.) on iron frame.
Wooden plinth later.
