Hochwertige, ältere, mehrteilig gefertigte Replik. Der Stab mit dunkelblauem Samtbezug und aufgelegten vergoldeten französischen Adlern. Die beiden Knäufe vergoldet, der obere mit Devisenbandeau "Terror belli decus pacis" (Schrecken im Krieg, Zierde in Friedenszeiten) und abschließendem aufgelegten plastischen Adler, der untere mit dem Namen des Marschalls "Bazaine" und dem großen Staatswappen. Länge ca. 49 cm.
François-Achille Bazaine (1811 - 1888) stieg vom einfachen Soldaten bis zum Marschall von Frankreich auf. 1855 Militärgouverneur von Sewastopol, 1863 Kommandeur des Expeditionskorps in Mexiko, 1870 Befehlshaber der Rheinarmee, nach seiner Kapitulation bei Metz degradiert und zum Tode verurteilt, 1874 Flucht ins spanische Exil.

The first-rate, older replica made of several pieces. The baton covered in dark blue velvet and appliquéd with gilt French eagles. The two pommels gilt, the upper bearing the motto banner "Terror belli decus pacis" (Terror in war, honour in peace), surmounted by an appliquéd, fully sculptured eagle, the lower inscribed with the marshal's name "Bazaine" and the large, state coat of arms. Length approx. 49 cm.
François-Achille Bazaine (1811 - 1888) had a meteoric rise from a simple soldier to the marshal of France. He served as military governor of Sevastopol in 1855, as commander of the Expedition Corps in Mexico in 1863 and commander of the Rhine Army in 1870. After surrendering near Metz, he was demoted and sentenced to death. In 1874, he went into exile in Spain.
