Über quadratischer Plinthe mit verkröpften Ecken und Wellenbandfries, kurzer, kannelierter Säulenschaft mit flacher Basis aus Lorbeerblatt. Profilgerahmtes, verglastes Zifferblatt mit applizierten römischen Zahlen, bez. F. Barbedienne Paris. Pendulenwerk mit Pendelfeder sowie Halbstundenschlag auf Glocke. Oberhalb große Büste von Diane De Poitiers nach dem berühmten Vorbild des 16. Jhs. von Jean Goujon (1510-1567). Rücks. bez. F. Barbedienne. Fondeur. H. 79 cm.
Ferdinand Barbedienne zählt zu den bedeutendsten Pariser Bronziers des 19. Jhs., dessen Werke u.a. auf der Weltausstellung 1898 in Paris präsentiert wurden. Als Vorbild für die Büste diente die Skulptur der Diane De Poitiers als "Diana und der Hirsch" aus dem Jahr 1550 im Pariser Louvre.
