Kräftige, zweischneidige Klinge mit angesetzten Schneiden. In der flachen, beidseitigen Kehlung in Silber eingelegte, abbreviierte Inschrift zwischen zwei Balkenkreuzen. Die Inschrift der einen Schwertseite nur in geringen Resten erhalten, in der Kehlung eine größere Durchrostung. Gerade Parierstange mit rechteckigem Querschnitt. Kräftige Angel mit schwerem Pagodenknauf. Dabei das zugehörige Ortblech aus Bronze mit grünlicher Patina. Beidseitig fein punzierter Kreisaugendekor mit Kreuzzeichen. Länge 109 cm, Länge Ortblech 12,5 cm.
A German knightly sword with blade inscription, circa 1250
Sturdy double-edged blade with attached cutting edges. The flat fuller on each side with abbreviated inscription inlaid in silver between two straight-armed crosses. The inscription on one side preserved only in small remnants, a major rust perforation in the fuller. Straight rectangular quillons. Sturdy tang with heavy pagoda-shaped pommel. Comes with the original chape of bronze with greenish patina. Both sides decorated with finely punched concentric circles with cross marks. Overall length 109 cm, length of chape 12.5 cm.
