Shepherdess with child and flock in ruins landscape Oil on canvas. 91.5 x 129,5 cm. Restored. Framework min. dam. Philipp Peter Roos, eldest son of the artist Johann Heinrich Roos, surpassed during his lifetime, his father's fame among the contemporaries. Its fascinating depictions of animals found in important collections to Russia, Sweden and England. His nickname "Rosa da Tivoli" was to become the epitome of the animal painting of the late Baroque. Philipp Peter Roos painted, almost exclusively, to animals (preferably, goat and sheep), with or without a shepherd in the rugged Campagna landscapes. His paintings are almost signed never.
