Royal Coat of Arms - Silk Embroidery of the Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom, around 1900, framed behind glass, approx. 59 x 74 cm (with frame). Colors somewhat faded due to age. The royal coat of arms has existed in this form since Queen Victoria's accession to the throne in 1837. The coat of arms shows the parts of England, Scotland and Ireland. The motto of the Order of the Garter surrounds the shield. On the shield a Spangenhelm with the St. Edwards crown sitting on it. On the crown the English lion. Lion also as a shield holder for England, the unicorn as a shield holder for Scotland. Banner with the motto of the English royal family DIEU ET MON DROIT, above floral symbols.
