Further details
A BELGIAN SILVER CASTER
MARK OF LAMBERTUS VAN GEMERT, ANTWERP, CIRCA 1730
Of octagonal section on spreading foot, the facetted baluster body engraved and chased with panels of lambrequins, the cover pierced with trelliswork and with baluster finial on openwork calyx, marked underneath and on cover's flange also with control mark for 1798-1809
This silversmith's mark was previously attributed to Leopold Joseph van Lamoen (1688-1736), but recent archive research has shown that it actually belongs to Lambertus van Gemert, who was active between 1726 and 1747. See Anne-Marie Claessens-Peré, 2023, p. 95, No. 234.
