Annähernd halbkugelige Schale, geschliffen aus großem Kristall mit natürlichen Rissen und Einschlüssen. 3 mm hoher und 4 cm breiter Boden deutlich von der Wandung abgesetzt. Waagerechter, schräg nach außen gestellter Rand, unten durch eine Hohlkehle von der Wandung abgesetzt. Auf der Wandung vier ca. 4,3 cm breite Medaillons mit Darstellungen von Jesus Christus, der Muttergottes Maria sowie zweier kappadokischer Kirchenväter, des Heiligen Basilius und des Gregor von Nyssa. Maria mit Nimbus und Schleier im Fürbittgestus, Jesus mit Kreuznimbus, Bibel und Segensgestus, die Heiligen Basilius und Gregor nimbiert und eine Bibel haltend. Durchmesser 14,8 cm. Höhe 5 cm. Äußerst seltenes und hochwertiges Erzeugnis mittelbyzantinischen Kunsthandwerks.

Almost hemispherical bowl, cut from large crystal with natural cracks and inclusions. The 3 mm high and 4 cm wide base is clearly set off from the wall. Horizontal, outward-slanting rim set off from the wall at the bottom by a moulding. On the wall four approx. 4.3 cm wide medallions with depictions of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary and two Cappadocian church fathers, St Basil and St Gregory of Nyssa. Mary with nimbus and veil in the gesture of supplication, Jesus with cross nimbus, Bible and gesture of blessing, St Basil and St Gregory nimbed and holding a Bible. Diameter 14.8 cm. Height 5 cm. Extremely rare and high-quality product of middle Byzantine craftsmanship.
