Lot 13098 | Schneider Göttingen, 10x50, ähnlich Fallschirmjäger Glas, wohl Prototyp - um 1935
Ohne Seriennummer. Die obere Achsscheibe gemarkt "10x50". Beidseitige Okularverstellung leichtgängig. Schwarzer Lack und Beschichtung teilweise abgerieben. Gewicht 920 g. Durchsicht 1-.
Ging offenbar nie in Serie - extrem selten!
Schneider Göttingen, 10x50, similar to Paratrooper binos, probably a prototype - ca. 1935
Schneider Göttingen, 10x50, similar to Paratrooper binos, probably a prototype - ca. 1935
No serial number. The upper hinge plate marked "10x50". Smooth diopter adjustment. The black finish partly worn off. Weight 920 g. Transparency 1-.
The shape of these binoculars is very similar to the paratrooper binos from 1944/45. However, the body for the prisms is assembled of two hemispheres, the bridge is mounted much lower, the strap lugs are vertical rather than tilted, the shape of the tubes is slightly different, and the weight is significantly higher than that of the paratrooper binoculars. Apparently this model stayed in the experimental stage and never went into mass production. Extremely rare!
According to Hans Seeger these binos are most likely prototypes, built ca. 1934/35. The assembly of two semi-spheres apparently did not meet the requirements towards impermeability, and was thus discarded in favour of the more complex, but better full-sphere construction.
