The skull of the burgonet forged in two pieces with a high, turned edge. Major areas of splaying with detached metal layers on the left side of the helmet, comb and skull. The peak and neck guard tapering to a point, the flange turned under. Hinged cheek pieces. Shoulder defence with ridged breastplate. Two neck lames with prominent flanged edges, the front half of the lower lame has been lost. Shoulder defences sliding on five lames, one lame on the right arm an old replacement. Breastplate with a prominent ridge, drawn out to a slight central point. The articulated arm gussets and the upper edge with pronounced, roped flanges struck inwards. The faulds of three articulated lames still attached, the tassets sliding on five lames with a turned and roped edge. Backplate with distinctly domed shoulder blades, riveted side plates and culet. The left side plate dented and torn. All parts blackened, the polished linear ornaments entirely covered in delicate etched tendrils. Most of the leather lining renewed, damaged in places. Mounted on a modern stand. Height circa 125 cm.
Historicism suit of armour, assembled from old parts. The etching of the linear ornaments indicating a variety of styles. While the breastplate and backplate show the presumably original 16th century etched embellishment, the decoration on the other components was probably added during the 19th century.
