Leicht graustichiges Glas. Würfelförmiger Korpus, gerundete Schulter, facettierter Zylinderhals. Geschnittener, teilw. geblänkter Dekor aus dem MonoGrösse "EA" (für Zarin Katharina I./Yekaterina I Alekseyevna v. Russland) mit Zarenkrone, flankiert von Zweigen und Schmetterlingen. Am Hals ornamentale Bordüre, vergoldeter Lippenrand. Geschliffene Bodenrosette. Alte Inventar-Nr. "A 1168". H. 14 cm.
Die Karaffe stammt aus einem Service Zarin Katharina I. (1684-1727), der zweiten Frau Peter des Großen, seit 1725 Zarin. Aufgrund der kurzen Regierungszeit sind Objekte mit ihrem Monogramm sehr selten.
Lt. Informationen des Vorbesitzers in den 1920er Jahren wurde sie in einer der sog. "Russenauktionen" in Lepke's Kunstauktions-Haus in Berlin erworben.
