Seltene monumentale Skulptur "Pferd I" von Max Esser
Weißporzellan. Rechteckig konturierter und geschweifter Sockel als Basis. Darauf gesetzt stilisierter Natursockel mit der vollplastischen und dynamischen Darstellung eines wiehernden Pferdes, mit einem Hinterlauf auf der abgestreiften Decke stehend. Entw. Max Esser, 1927. Modell-Nr. A 1158. Unw. rest.; Schwerter- und eingepresste Weißwarenmarke. H. 64,5 cm. B. 38 cm.
Max Esser (1885 - 1945) gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Plastiker der Pfeifferzeit. Nach einer Bildhauerlehre wurde er Meisterschüler von August Gaul an der Kunstakademie in Berlin. Bereits als freischaffender Bildhauer war er eng mit der Meissener Manufaktur verbunden, ab 1920 auch dort beschäftigt. Seine im Stil des Art Déco geschaffenen Tierfiguren der 1920er Jahre überzeugen ungeachtet der Formstrenge durch einen ausdrucksstarken Habitus.
