A RARE POLYCHROME BRONZE FIGURE OF VAJRABHAIRAVA - Mongolia, 18th c. - Standing with his multiple legs in pratyalidhasana, embracing with his principle arms his two-legged consort holding kapala and karttrika, his own principle hands as well with karttrika and kapala, the others missing, naked apart from an elephant-skin draped around his shoulders, bejewelled, his nine heads with central bull-head displaying a wrathful expression with bulging eyes below bushy eyebrows, snout showing double row of teeth and fangs, pair of horns, flanked by six heads and topped by two more heads including one of Buddha placed amidst his flaming hairdo. - Old European private collection, acquired prior to 2000 - Wear, base and arms at the sides lost

Stehend mit seinen vielen Beinen in Pratyalidhasana, mit seinen Hauptarmen seine zweibeinige Gefährtin umarmend, die Kapala und Karttrika hält, seine eigenen Haupthände ebenfalls mit Karttrika und Kapala, die anderen fehlen, nackt bis auf eine Elefantenhaut, die um seine Schultern drapiert ist, mit Juwelen geschmückt, seine neun Köpfe mit zentralem Stierkopf, der einen zornigen Ausdruck zeigt, mit wulstigen Augen unter buschigen Augenbrauen, einer Schnauze mit doppelter Zahnreihe und Reißzähnen, einem Paar Hörner, flankiert von sechs Köpfen und gekrönt von zwei weiteren Köpfen, einschließlich eines Buddha-Kopfes inmitten seiner flammenden Frisur.
