Seltene Teekanne "Karawane"
Plated. Über flachem, ovalem Stand der Kannenkorpus in Form eines liegenden, vollplastischen Dromedars. Der Henkel in Form eines Beduinen, sich mit beiden Füßen gegen das Dromedar stemmend und ein Bündel auf dessen Rücken festbindend. Das Bündel dient zugleich als scharnierter Klappdeckel. Im Boden mit punktierter Herstellerinschrift. H. 15 cm. 27 cm x 12 cm.
Das Modell stammt aus dem Atelier des Pariser Luxus-Teeunternehmens Mariage Frères, das 1854 gegründet wurde und für seine exquisiten Teekreationen und -accessoires bekannt ist. Der Modellentwurf geht auf eine Steingutteekanne zurück, die um 1875 von den Moore Brothers für das, auf Luxusgüter spezialisierte, Unternehmen von Thomas Goode in London entworfen wurde. Sie wurde im Rahmen der allgemeinen Begeisterung für orientalische Motive entworfen und verkörpert die Faszination für den Orient im Europa der 1870er Jahre. Das Steingutmodell befindet sich heute im Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Inv.-Nr.: 2815&A-1901.
