Seltener großer vergoldeter Silberhumpen des Historismus 1885 Rare, large gilded silver tankard from Historicism 1885, by FOEHR STUTTGART, silver 800 (hallmarked on the bottom), approx. 714 g full weight. With the engravings: ARMEE-JAGD-RENNEN BADEN-BADEN 1885. On the stand: GIVEN BY PRINZ HERMANN TO SAXONY WEIMAR. Plastic handle in the shape of a figurehead. H approx. 26 cm, D approx. 14 cm (foot). Outside with residual gold plating, also gold-plated inside. Partly heavily rubbed areas with wear to the gilding, dents and slight scratches. Somewhat wavy on the stand. Hermann von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach (1825-1901) was Prince of Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach and Duke of Saxony as well as a general from Württemberg. He entered the Württemberg war school in 1814. He became major general and had been in command of the Royal Württemberg Equestrian Division since 1859. He had the Grand Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown and is buried in the Prague cemetery in Stuttgart.
