Lot 21 | Seltener Kerzenleuchter aus Bronze in Gestalt einer stehenden Eule
A BRONZE CANDLE STAND IN THE SHAPE OF AN STANDING OWL - China, Eastern Han dynasty (25-220 AD) - Standing on its two legs with its long fla tail balancing the weight of the sculpture in the back, the bird has large eyes represented by a dotted circle done in intaglio. Between the eyes is a flange carved with fine ridges which ends at the long projecting beak. The ears are in the form of two rectangles decorated with slanted ridges all around the face. The socketed opening is cast centrally between the two ears. The wings are oval in shape and are decorated with patterns resembling feathers. - Property of the Goeritz family, Danzig and Berlin, acquired in 1989 from the art trade (purchase invoice available) - A nearly identical piece in: Oi Ling Chiang: Collection Julius Eberhardt. Der Vogel steht auf beiden Beinen, im Rücken balanciert der lange, flache Schwanz das Gewicht der Skulptur aus. Die großen Augen sind durch einen gepunkteten Kreis dargestellt werden. Die rechteckigen Ohren sind mit schrägen Schnittlinien um das Gesicht herum verziert. Die Öffnung ist mittig zwischen die beiden Ohren platziert. Die Flügel sind ovalförmig und mit Mustern verziert, die Federn ähneln.

Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
