Rare Pectoral Cross, Probably Spain, At The End Of 17. Century
12.8 x 8.7 cm
14kt yellow gold and silver, gold plated. Staffed by 6 rectangular-cut emeralds (approx. 8x5,5 - 9,8x6,5 mm) and 6 carréförmig-cut amethysts (approx. 7,1x7,2 - 8,25x8,11 mm) in downward-closed versions. In between diamond-Excel-encrusted silver tips (32 diamond roses). Total weight erg.59,8 Size of the stones part.
Provenance: Private Possession, Switzerland. Former Collection Of Alfred Rütschi, Zurich (1868-1929); Collection Jürg Stuker, Bern, Gerzensee (1914-1988). Gift Jürg Stukers to the current owners. Alfred Rütschi came from a Zurich-based family business, which was in the silk business. He built over the years an important collection of goldsmith's work from the 11. up to 20. A century on, issued from 1927 onwards, in Landolt-house (Zurich, Kunsthaus). Lit. Otto v. Falke, Old goldsmith's works in the Zurich Kunsthaus, Zürich in 1928 - The pectoral cross, there described in the catalogue. 797. - A small part of the collection Rütschi was auctioned after his death at Galerie Fischer/Lucerne (1931).
