SHIBATA ZESHIN, TWO PAINTINGS Japan, probably 1880-1890 Ink and color on paper. 99x40.5/128.7x27 cm. Including a) a painting depicting a craftsman, carrying a rice bag on his shoulders and dumping rice into the mochi mortar, two mice on one side eating the scattered rice, signed "Zeshin" and with seal "Shin" in the lower left corner; b) depicting a frog sitting beside flowers and plants signed "Zeshin" and with seal "Koma" in the lower left corner. Both with traces of use and age, a) has a label of Spink and Son in London, b) partially stained, the paper is yellowed and creased. For comparison of a) are painting "An Elderly Couple", Lot 181 in the auction at Bonhams on 6. November 2014 and painting "Rooster, hen and chick", Lot 41 in the Online Auction at Christie's in November 2017. For comparison of b) is painting "Cucumbers and Augergines", Lot 4 in the auction at Bonhams on 8. November 2017. Please note that this lot may contain ivory.

Das Konvolut umfasst a) Darstellung eines Handwerkers, der einen Reissack auf seinen Schultern traegt und Reis in den Mochi-Moerser kippt, und zwei auf der Seite den verstreuten Reis essende Maeuse, signiert ''Zeshin'' und mit Siegel ''Shin'' in der unteren linken Ecke; b) Darstellung eines Frosches, der neben Blumen und Pflanzen sitzt, signiert ''Zeshin'' und mit Siegel ''Koma'' in der unteren linken Ecke. Beide mit Gebrauchs- und Altersspuren, a) mit Etikett von Spink and Son in London, b) partiell befleckt, Papier vergilbt und teilweise zerknittert. Zum Vergleich zu a) sind die Darstellung ''An Elderly Couple'', Lot 181 in der Auktion bei Bonhams am 6. November 2014 und die Darstellung ''Hahn, Henne und Kueken'', Lot 41 in der Online-Auktion bei Christie's im November 2017. The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
