Ungewöhnlich schwere und lange Rückenklinge aus Wootzdamast mit beidseitig goldtauschiertem Ansatz. Auf der Terzseite zwei goldtauschierte Kartuschen „Oh Du, der Du die Wünsche erfüllst“ und „Arbeit des Kalb Ali“, die Gegenseite mit reichhaltigem Ornamentaldekor. Parierstange und Griffband aus silbertauschiertem Eisen mit zwei vernieteten Nashorn-Griffschalen. Lederbezogene Holzscheide mit floral und geometrisch silbertauschierten Eisenbeschlägen. Länge 103 cm.

A Syrian shamshir with silver and gold inlays, Ottoman period, 19th century
Unusually heavy and long single-edged blade of wootz Damascus steel, the base with gold inlays on both sides. On the obverse two gold-inlaid cartouches (tr.) "Oh you, who fulfill all wishes" and (tr.) "Work of Kalb Ali", the reverse decorated with lavish ornaments. Quillons and grip strap of iron with silver inlays and two riveted rhinoceros horn grip scales. Leather-covered wooden scabbard with iron fittings inlaid in silver with flowers and geometrical patterns. Length 103 cm.
