Gekrümmte Rückenklinge mit beidseitiger breiter Kehlung und zweischneidiger Spitze. Am Ansatz terzseitig Exportstempel "Железнорубъ/Eisenhauer", quartseitig "Wm Walscheid *Solingen". Floral gravierter, niellierter Silbergriff. Lederbezogene Holzscheide mit vier en suite gearbeiteten Silberbeschlägen mit fein nielliertem Rankendekor. Länge 93 cm. Ein vergleichbares Exemplar mit Solingenklinge und gleicher Meistermarke befindet sich in der Sammlung des Metropolitan Museums (AN 36.25.1553a, b).

A silver-mounted shashka, St. Petersburg, 1870s - 1890s


Curved, single-edged blade with broad fullers on both sides and a double-edged point. The export stamp "Железнорубъ/Eisenhauer" on the obverse at the root, with "Wm Walscheid *Solingen" on the reverse. Nielloed silver grip with floral engraving. The leather-covered wooden scabbard with four en suite silver fittings and finely nielloed decorative tendrils. Length 93 cm. A similar sword with a Solingen blade and the same master's mark can be found in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum (AN 36.25.1553a, b).
