Runder, durchbrochen gearbeiteter Schlagkopf aus vergoldetem Silber. Umlaufend plastische Löwenmaskarons zwischen Ranken- und Muscheldekor. Besatz mit hoch gefassten Edelstein-Cabochons (Almandin und Spinel?). Abschlussplatte mit reliefiertem Wappen des Siebenbürgischen Fürsten Georg I. Rakoczi und Motto "Soli deo gloria 1631" und Monogramm "GR". Samtbezogener, leicht konischer Schaft, die lange Tülle und Griffhülse aus vergoldetem Silber mit getriebenem und graviertem, floralem Dekor und reichem Cabochon-Besatz. Länge 53,5 cm, Gewicht 1467 g.
Der hier vorliegende Streitkolben zählt zu einer kleinen Gruppe von Luxus-Streitkolben, die in der Mitte des 19. Jhdt. im Stil des 17. Jhdt. entstanden sind. Sie stehen in enger Verbindung zur damaligen Nationalbewegung und wurden als Ehren-und Staatsgeschenke gefertigt.
Einer dieser Streitkolben wurde Kaiser Franz Joseph I. 1867 bei seiner Krönung zum Ungarischen König von der Goldschmiedezunft von Pest verehrt. Er befindet sich heute in der Sammlung des Ungarischen Nationalmuseums in Budapest (Inv. Nr. 54.1956). Ein weiteres Exemplar aus der Sammlung Philippe Missillier wurde im April dieses Jahres bei Sotheby's für 82.500 GBP (inkl. Premium) zugeschlagen.

Round, openworked head in gilt silver. A border of fully sculptured lion mascarons between decorative tendrils and shells. Set with high cabochons of precious stones (almandine and spinel?). The end plate with the coat of arms of Prince George I. Rakoczi in relief, inscribed "Soli deo gloria 1631" around the edge and his monogram "GR". The slightly conical shaft covered in velvet, the long socket and sleeve made of gilt silver with hammered and engraved floral décor, lavishly set with cabochons. Length 53.5 cm, weight 1467 g.
This mace is one of a small collection of magnificent, 17th century style maces that were produced in the mid-19th century. Closely linked to the national movement of the time, they were presented as tokens of honour and gifts of state.
One of these maces was presented in reverence to Kaiser Franz Joseph I at his coronation as King of Hungary in 1867 by the goldsmiths' guild of Pest. Today, it can be found in the collection of the Hungarian National Museum in Budapest (inv. no. 54.1956). Another mace from the Philippe Missillier Collection was sold by Sotheby's for £82,500 (incl. premium) in April this year.
