[ECLIPSES.] Three works relevant to solar eclipses, 1820-1929.

1. HALLASCHKA, Franz Ignaz Cassian (1780-1847). Calculus eclipsis solis observatae die 19 Novembris 1816, cui sccedunt elementa eclipsium quas patitur tellus, luna eam inter et solem uersante, ab anno 1861 usque ad annum 1900. Prague: T. Haase, 1820. Quarto (230 x 177mm). 16 engraved folding plates. Contemporary quarter calf over paste paper boards (later cloth corners), spine gilt, all edges gilt. Provenance: "W.F.A." (ownership inscription dated 1933) – Jesuit college at Linz (inkstamp and deaccession stamp).
2. LOCKYER, J. Norman. Contributions to Solar Physics ... A Popular Account of Inquiries into the Physical Constitution of the Sun. London: Macmillan, 1874. Thick octavo. Illustrated, including color plates (dampstain along top edge). Contemporary half morocco (rebacked with original spine laid down).
3. JOSLIN, Rebecca R. Chasing Eclipses. The Total Solar Eclipses of 1905, 1914, 1925. Boston: Walton Advertising, [1929.]. First edition. Octavo. Illustrated from photographs. Publisher's blue cloth gilt, top edge gilt.

First editions. Two popular science works plus the eclipse predictions of the Moravian astronomer Hallaschka through the end of his century, all well illustrated.
