Date: Presumably 18th/19th century.
Technique: Bronze. Shiny black-brown patina with traces of a lacquer finish. Figure set into a modern wooden base.
Description: The crowned deity standing on a flat plinth in samabhanga. Both hands raised in
abhayamudra, a stylised chakra in the palm of each hand. The stylised brows form a
continuous line above the bridge of the nose, the eyes are finely curved, the mouth
characterised by full lips. Dressed in a tight-fitting undergarment reaching down to the
ankles with a centre pleat, held together by a belt with a central flower, as well as a
samghati covering both shoulders with widely flared sides. The long earlobes with ear
pendants, a massive necklace around the neck.
