Oktagonaler, 250 mm Damastlauf mit angedeuteten Zügen, aber glatter Seele im Kaliber 15 mm. Bräunierte Laufoberfläche mit feiner Damaststruktur, um die Kammer zwei Bandeinlagen aus Silber. Das ehemals vorhandene Korn fachmännisch entfernt. Keine Beschusszeichen. Auf der Laufunterseite spätere Inventarnummer (?) "184". Stark gedunkeltes, eisernes Steinschloss mit typischer Hahnsicherung. Auf dem glatten Schlossblech signiert "D.Egg". Rollengelagerte Batterie. Feine Gravur eines Hasen im linken Feld des Schlossblechs, ferner florale Rankengravuren. En suite gravierte, eiserne Garnitur. Wohl unter Verwendung einer silbernen Daumenauflage nachträglich angebrachte Kolbenkappe, um eine ältere Beschädigung zu kaschieren. Nussholzhalbschaft mit Hornnase. Zwei alte, fachmännisch ausgeführte Reparaturen mit jeweils eingesetzten und farblich passend gebeizten Holzteilen. Kolben mit Fischhaut verschnitten. Diverse Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. Originaler, hölzerner Ladestock. Mechanisch in Ordnung. Länge ca. 39 cm.
Durs Egg war einer der bekanntesten Büchsenmacher Londons, 1748-1831. Vgl. Stöckl, 1. Band, S. 335.
An octagonal, 250 mm Damascus steel barrel with indicated rifling, but smooth bore in 15 mm calibre. Browned barrel surface with fine Damascus pattern, two silver bands at the breech. The previously existent front sight professionally removed. No proof marks. On the underside of the barrel later inventory number (?) "184". Heavily darkened iron flintlock with typical hammer safety. Signed "D. Egg" on the smooth lock plate. Frizzen on rollers. Finely engraved hare in the left section of the lock plate, floral scrolling leaves. En suite engraved iron furniture. The silver thumb rest was probably incorporated into the later attached butt plate to cover an older damage. Walnut half stock with horn nose. Two old, professional repairs with inserted, matching coloured wooden pieces. Finely chequered butt stock. Various signs of age and use. Original wooden ramrod. Mechanically sound. Length ca. 39 cm. Durs Egg was one of the best-known gunsmiths in London, 1748-1831. Cf. Stöckl, Volume 1, p. 335.
