Lot 1156 | Survivor-sized head of Guanyin made of bronze. CHINA, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912).
Survivor-sized head of Guanyin in bronze. CHINA, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The face with the slightly open eyes radiates meditative calm. The hair is accurately draped with a long ribbon into a high coiffure and crowned with a headdress in the centre of which a small Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin) is depicted standing on a lotus. The right hand of the small figure is raised in a gesture of protection and salutation. Several damages: 1.) Crack and repair spot in the area of the forehead (ca. 12 cm). 2.) Approx. 6 cm long breakout in the area of the neck. 3.) The small figure is missing a piece of the headdress (broken off). Family-owned since the beginning of the 20th century, last in Böblingen since 1972.
