Technically highly interesting pocket watch, experimental pirouette rack lever escapement, Frédéric Louis Favre, Le Locle
Ca. Ø57.5mm, ca. 143g, original silver case, No. 3630, Swiss case of English construction, original dome, plate signed Frédéric Louis Favre au Locle 1er Classe, extremely rare escapement, combination of rack lever escapement and Massey escapement, so called "Pirouette-Lever", diamond endstone, escapement wheel with 30 teeth, original enamel dial with 15-seconds counter, blued steel hands, running and in very good condition, from a technical point of view an absolute rarity. The watch was made by Frédéric-Louis Favre-Bulle (1770-1849), one of the most important chronometer makers in the history of Swiss watchmaking and especially that of Le Locle, a contemporary of Jacques-Frédéric Houriet (1743-1830) and Urban Jürgensen (1776-1830).
