Lot 40 | THE 1971 AND 1979 ENGLISH SEASON SALVERS
Each circular shaped on scroll feet and with moulded border, engraved with inscription on centre, marked underneath and by the rim, the 1971 salver with fitted case
35.5cm. and 30.5 cm. wide
56 oz. 17 dwt. (1,769 gr.)
The 1971 salver's inscription reads: 'Geoffrey Boycott, English Season 1971, 30 Innings 5 not out 2503 runs 13 centuries highest score 233 Average 100.12' with table underneath 'For Yorkshire Against' and below '1st Englishman to average over 100 in an English Season' flanked on the side with the England cricket logo and the Yorkshire rose.

The 1979 salver's inscription reads: 'Geoffrey Boycott, English Season 1979, 25 Innings 5 not-out 1538 runs 6 centuries, Highest score 175 not out average 102 53', below two tables 'For Yorkshire against' and 'For England against', and 'The only batsman to average over 100 - twice in an English season', flanked on the side with the England cricket logo and the Yorkshire rose.
