London: Frederick Warne, 1908.Presentation copy, signed and poetically inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: “To Mr. Dixon of Howe End, these curious happenings amongst the foxgloves in Bishop’s Wood are presented by the author / with kind regards from Beatrix Heelis.” Linder, p. 427; Quinby 14. 12mo. Color frontispiece and 26 color plates by Beatrix Potter. Original green boards with pictorial cover label, pictorial endpapers (light wear to extremities, sunning, short edge-tear to f.f.e. touching illustration). Custom cloth chemise, slipcase. Provenance: Mr. Dixon (presentation inscription) – Doris Frohnsdorff (her sale, Christie’s East, 16 April 1997, lot 71).
