A theodolite by Stanley of London, 20th century
Brass, nickel, glass. The telescope with horizontal and vertical swivel function, plus a finely scaled vertical circle with a bubble tube (empty, the glass cracked), level mirror and two magnifying glasses, a finely scaled, full horizontal circle with a bubble tube (one retaining screw has been lost), two magnifiers and a compass, the manufacturer's signature on the base. Traces of use, the eyepiece somewhat cloudy. Length of the telescope 21 cm. Total height 34 cm. A sturdy, elaborate precision instrument with fine, solid engineering.

Gebrauchsspuren, Optik etwas trüb. Länge des Fernrohrs 21 cm. Gesamthöhe 34 cm. Aufwendig gearbeitetes, schweres Präzisionsinstrument mit solider Feinmechanik.
