( Vienna 1793-1875 )
The driving out of cows from Innergschlöss at the foot of Venediger ( mountain ) and the source of the Isel river, titled on the cardboard support, signed Ender, watercolour on paper, 22 x 30 cm, mounted, framed, ( Hu )

Literature:
Walter Koschatzky, Thomas Ender, Leykam Verlag 1982, Topographisches Register p. 200.

In 1833 Thomas Ender made a journey to the Felbertal. It was the first journey on his own as appointed Kammermaler (chamber painter) of Archduke John. Ender’s report of the journey and letters to the archduke have been preserved. In the letter of August 3rd, 1833 Ender wrote that he was stopped by heavy rainfall and that there was lots of snow in the mountains. He hoped that he would be able to continue soon in order to begin with his work in Gschlöss. This seems to have happened soon after, as is confirmed by the present view. (Vgl. Walter Koschatzky, Thomas Ender 1793-1875, Kammermaler Erzherzog Johanns, Graz 1982, pp. 62,72).

We are grateful to Dr. Maria Luise Sternath, Vienna for the scientific support.
