TORELLO ANCILOTTI 1843 Florenz - 1899 ebenda 'CHEF DE BANDE' Weißer Marmor, gehauen, vergoldete Bronze. H. 125 cm (Figur), Ges.- H. 187 cm. Auf dem Sockel bezeichnet 'Ancilotti', seitlich bezeichnet 'Boudet-Paris'. Part. min. restauriert, Holzsockel sekundär. Literatur: Bénézit, EmmanueLänge: Dictionnaire critique et documentaire des Peintres, sculpteurs, dessinateurs et graveurs, Paris 1999, Band 1, S. 286. Provenienz: Deutsche Privatsammlung. Über einem runden Sockel ganzfigurige, vollplastisch und detailreich ausgeführte Darstellung eines Kommandeurs in stolzer Haltung. Er trägt einen Hut, einen Umhang über den Schultern und umgekrempelte Stiefel. In seiner Rechten hält er einen Degen. Die in Bronze ausgeführte Figur des 'Chef de Bande' wurde 1883 mit der Goldmedaille bei der 'L'Exposition Universelle d'Amsterdam' ausgezeichnet und 1884 im 'Salon de la Société des Artistes Français' ausgestellt. ''M. Ancillotti est un sculpteur doué d'un sentiment décoratif, comme tous les Italiens. Son Chef de bande est la statue en bronze d'un reître Louis XIII costumé en Bassompierre, avec le large feutre, la longue épée, les rubans et bottes en bobèche. Campé de la plus crâne façon, il semble flairer d'où vient le vent des équipées chevaleresques et des querelles défendues par l'Edit. Il est vraiment superbe de forfanterie et d'audace. Voilà pour le sentiment; mais ce n'est pas tout, et il faut admirer le travail de ce joli bronze qu'on dirait ciselé par un orfèvre florentin. Au fait, M.
