Schalenförmig mit waagerechtem, ausgestelltem Rand, auf drei Füßchen. Die schauseitige passige Ausbuchtung ist umgeben von Efeuranken und Blattwerk. Dazu: Dreifuß (gotoku) aus Eisen. Unbeschrifteter Holzkasten. Beiliegend ein Gutachterpapier (kanteisho) in Umschlag. Der Umschlag beschriftet: Tetsuen fûro (Kohlebecken aus Eisen); tsuta mon (Efeu-Muster) Ko Tenmyô saku naru (alte Tenmyô 天明-Arbeit) Shôbei origami („gefaltetes Papier“ des Shôbei). Das Papier (kanteisho) beschriftet: Tetsu fûro (Kohlebecken aus Eisen) / …tsuta jimon tame kore (Efeu-Grundmuster) / migi Tenmyô ko saku. Mu…sha naru (vorliegend: alte Tenmyô-Arbeit nicht …person Kamashi (Kesselmeister) / Shôbei / yoroshi und kaô U/usagi (im Jahr des Hasen) / shûjitsu (an einem Herbsttag). Auf der Rückseite des Papiers zwei schwarze Siegel eines professionellen Gutachters (kanteika 鑑定家): …kan und Ajinobu .

Ein eisernes furo 風炉 wurde bei der Teezeremonie im Sommer zum Erhitzen von Wasser in einem ebenfalls eisernen Kessel (gama) verwendet. In die Asche werden glühende Holzkohlen gelegt, die den auf einem Dreifuß ruhenden Kessel erhitzen. Die Bezeichnung „Tenmyô“ tragen viele wertvolle Kessel (Berliner, S. 298). Er bezieht sich auf den Herstellungsort Tenmyô in der Provinz Shimotsuke (heute Sano-Stadt in der Präfektur Tochigi). In Tee-Kreisen werden die zwischen der Ära Shôchô (1428-1429) und der Ära Tenbun (1532-1555) hergestellten Wasserkessel als Ko-Tenmyo (Alt-Tenmyô) bezeichnet; ab 1555 bis 1616 dann Go-Tenmyo (Spät-Tenmyô). Shôbei 庄兵衛 müsste (demzufolge der dort ansässige) Kesselmeister gewesen sein. Wie in Japan üblich wurden dieselben Namen über viele Generationen hinweg verwendet. Das einzelne Schriftzeichen „usagi“ lässt im Zwölferhytmus vielerlei Jahreszahlen zu - Alterssch.
