The first kogo 17th century with some later Japanning, of rectangular shape and hinged cover, decorated in gold and black low and high-relief lacquer with two birds on rocks beside bamboo fences, the sides with landscape scenes, later mounted in Europe with yellow metal mounts, the second kogo late 18th – early 19th century decorated in low-relief lacquer and inlays of gold foil with iris flowers and leaves; the inro decorated in gold and black lacquer with a rural scene of farmers amongst rice paddies and thatched houses, 19th century
