Ebenholz. Aus einem Stück geschnitzter Figur eine Frau (Massai?), der geschorene Kopf mit ausdrucksstarkem Gesicht, aufwendigem Ohrschmuck und breitem Halsreif. Gekleidet in ein durch feine Schnitzarbeit gemustertes Gewand, das eine Schulter und eine Brust freilässt, in der Hand ein Flaschenkürbis. Die Fußgelenke werden durch weiß-rote Glasperlenketten geschmückt. Auf unregelmäßig geformtem, roh belassenem Sockel. Höhe 237 cm.

Ebony. Figure of a (Massai?) woman carved in one piece, the shorn head with expressive features, elaborate ear jewellery and broad necklace. Clad in a finely carved patterned garment with one shoulder and one breast exposed, carrying a calabash in her hand. The ankles are decorated with glass beads in red and white. On an irregularly shaped base of unprocessed wood. Height 237 cm.
